In July 2006, Hannah Holland was diagnosed with nasal osteosarcoma of the skull. Little information about her condition was available and what information could be found was hard to understand. That’s why Mike Holland teamed with Ryan Traylor, Tonie Stevens, Beth Astin and other like-minded Richmond leaders to create FETCH a Cure. The early goal was to simply provide access to information about canine cancer for pet owners in the Greater Richmond Region.
In three short years, the local non-profit has a flagship annual fundraiser called “Pups on Parade,” facilitates a full calendar of educational seminars, and established a Companions in Crisis fund for families in need. But the dream is to raise enough money to build an oncology and holistic care center that will be convenient to all pet families in Central Virginia.
